KEBAB PHILOSOPHY~~ TONY OF ARABIA

(Ben Heine © Cartoons)
Just days after stepping down as Prime Minister of Britain, Tony Blair finds himself in a new position of Special Envoy to the Middle East. Already an 'expert' in the area, personally trained by George Dubya Bush himself, we have some interesting days to look forward to as he maps out his strategy to destroy Palestine the way he helped to destroy Iraq.

Blair plans Middle East visit in July

Tony Blair said in an interview published Thursday that he will begin his new job as special Middle East envoy immediately and probably travel to the region as early as next month.

The former British prime minister said that his work would consist of preparing the ground for a future Palestinian state, something he said would be essential for a negotiated settlement in the region.

"It is a fundamental issue - I will be starting straight away," he told The Northern Echo, a local newspaper which serves England's northeast. "I will probably go out in July."

During his tenure as prime minister, Blair repeatedly said that the resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was key to achieving peace in the wider Middle East. In the interview, Blair said that the issue was a matter of concern "anywhere you go in the world."

"This is the issue which concerns people, not merely because of the plight of the Israelis and the Palestinians, but also the symbolism of the dispute, what it says about the state of the relationship between the Western world and the Muslim world and between different cultures and religions," Blair said.

Talking about his future, Blair also outlined plans for an interfaith foundation.

OH PLEASE!! The last line, that he has outlined plans for an interfaith foundation gives me the SHIVERS. A couple of days ago you asked if "religion" can help bring peace to the situation. Now HE is laying out the plans for interfaith dialogue? I know this is a topic of both serious debate (as well it should be) and ridicule, but for God's sake, don't let him even go near the religious leaders to try manipulate that area of discussion too. With all the blood on this man's hands the utter audacity of him even muttering these words goes beyond the pale!

These 'messengers of God', Bush and Blair make for a very uncomfortable situation, to say the least.

Oh, goody! Now we'll get a good chance to tomatoe him!

"During his tenure as prime minister, Blair repeatedly said that the resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was key to achieving peace in the wider Middle East."

But, come on, we've been saying this for decades! And as far as I remember, he was one of the "New Mid Beast" supporters.

Can nothing be done to keep this man away from the Middle East? His lies and misinformation about Iraq and Palestine, his support for Israeli brutality in Lebanon and Gaza have done irreparable harm to the people of the Middle Eastand to international relations. The Palestinians should not have to suffer his presence or his "opinions". As for an interfaith foundation - how dare he? he has harmed interfaith understanding more than anyone -other than George Bush. Is he trying to redeem himself by being seen doing something "good" ?
